Relish - UX for Real Relationships

Relish is a relationship health programme combining bite-sized lessons, interactive tools, and on-demand support from real relationship coaches. Rooted in behavioural psychology, the product helps couples communicate better and grow together.
Despite having a solid core offering, the external experience didn’t reflect the care and depth behind the product. The brand leaned too masculine and the design resembled generic wellness apps—eroding user trust.

Process
Positioning the Value of Coaching
The redesign began with a full audit of site messaging, content hierarchy, and visual tone. Through user interviews and sentiment mapping, we found that users needed reassurance—emotional safety, credibility, and a sense of being ‘seen.’
We redesigned the homepage to open with coaching outcomes and real testimonials, framing support as personal and actionable rather than abstract or generic. I rewrote and redesigned key sections to focus on emotional resonance and visual trust signals.
Gamification in Learning Content
These designs brought the lessons to life—giving users progress cues, relatable illustrations, and tools to explore at their own pace. Beyond the website, I worked on Relish's internal lesson content—transforming flat educational materials into interactive, gamified experiences. Drawing from behavioural psychology and habit formation, I redesigned modules to feel more like micro-quests than static reads.
This included:
Progress loops and completion badges
Choice-based navigation to foster autonomy
Quizzes and micro-reflections integrated into the learning flow
Blog Hub Redesign
Relish’s blog was a hidden gem—packed with expert-written, high-value content. But the layout didn’t invite exploration. I redesigned the entire hub to feel like a guided resource library, including:
Smart search filters
Topic tagging and suggested articles
Improved readability and mobile layout
During testing, users spent 2 extra minutes on a single article and explored 3 more per session.
“The new content design gave people a reason to stay. The gamified flow just made it easier to keep going.”
Conclusion
The redesign helped shift Relish from “relationship advice app” to trusted long-term support system. By pairing a warmer, emotionally intelligent design with real behavioural frameworks, we created an experience that felt safe, relevant, and valuable—ultimately boosting conversions and engagement across the board.
